Seven

Madison turns 7 tomorrow. I think back to the day we first brought her home and the feeling of overwhelming anxiety knowing we were responsible for her well being. The time has flown by since and she is growing into such a wonderful girl. Granted, she still has her moments, but overall I couldn't ask for anything more. In her seven years she has brought/taught me so much. Unconditional love, patience, humor, happiness, frustration (yes - it's true), pride, honesty and excitement.

One of the benefits of being a parent is being able to see parts of you in your kids. Aside from the comments we get from people saying that Madison looks like me, she definately has a few of our traits. She sleeps like me when she is hot. One foot outside of the covers and one foot under. She is a germ freak (Dewayne swears this one is my fault - I think everyone should be concerned with germs and cross contamination). She is an ice cream fanatic (this is from Dewayne). Her current flavor of choice is Blue Bell Natural Vanilla Bean with Magic Shell and sprinkles. Since both she and Dewayne like ice cream so much, Dewayne created "Ice Cream Thursday" several years ago. Charlotte is now a huge fan and thoroughly enjoys "ICT".

Madison loves all animals - horses, dogs, cats, etc. We have tons of rabbits in our neighborhood. When she was younger I told her if she caught a rabbit she could keep it. It was kind of funny to see her stalk the rabbits, only to have them hop off quickly before she got too close. Maybe when Bug gets a little faster they can team up for more success? I may regret the promise I made......

Hi

Well, after a L-O-N-G time of reading other blogs, I decided it was finally time. We are definately on the "later" end of the blogging craze, but everyone says its fun and an easy way to keep in touch. So here it goes..........

Dewayne and I have two wonderful girls that are typical of most sisters - playing great together one moment and arguing about the most trivial thing the next (see picture below of the girls playing with their New Orleans loot).

Currently the argument/fight of choice is who makes it to the car door first in the morning - does it really matter???? Hopefully this is normal and pretty soon they will realize that the car doesn't leave untill everyone is inside. If not, Dewayne (he has morning "drop off" duty) has nine more years of Monday-Friday morning madness.
